After my first baby, I was exhausted, running on broken sleep and surviving on toast and coffee.
And I remember thinking, we spend so much time preparing for the baby, but where are the realistic ways to prepare for Mum?
Because when you have no free hands, no time and no energy, feeding yourself can quickly become the last thing you think about.
After four babies, I’ve learnt that having your food sorted before those first weeks makes such a difference. Knowing what you’ll eat, having nourishing food ready to go, and having simple meals you can actually manage when you’re exhausted.
So I’ve taken what I know about postpartum nutrition and what I’ve learnt from my own recoveries and working with hundreds of mums, and turned it into a simple first-month plan to help you prepare your food, nourish your recovery and take the pressure off feeding yourself postpartum.
It’s the plan I wish I’d had before my first baby, and the one I’ve used to make each postpartum easier.
